This blog is about a lot of things that collectively make up me. I am self-professed foodie who is trying to learn to live a healthier lifestyle. Growing up was a lot of cleaning your plate and veggies in melted butter. Who knew veggies without butter could taste so good?

A few years ago I got it in my head that I wanted to "learn to run". I tried the Couch to 5k program twice, but both times I became demotivated and gave up. In January of 2008 I was browsing websites when I came across a race report for the Walt Disney World Half Marathon. First, I was completely smitten with the Donald Duck race medal (he's my favorite!) but second, I was 110% blown away by the stories of regular people coming from nothing to complete this race. I was in tears reading their motivational stories. Average, not particularly athletic to start with people who became runners.
I've still struggled with my own ups and downs with motivation and injury, but I did complete my goal of completing the Walt Disney World Half Marathon in 2010. It didn't go quite as planned (snow, sleet, slipping on wet patches and hurting my foot) so I plan on running it again in 2012!

My partner in life, love and running is my husband Jeff. I may refer to him as "Grumpy Runner" from time-to-time. He is my biggest fan and always there to support my harebrained schemes - even if that means running 13.1 in the rain. We were married in May 2010 at, of all places, Walt Disney World and we co-habitat in what I call the "tiny apartment".
